Hello beautiful soul! As you can see, the title of today’s blog is a question: should I pray for God to heal my anxiety? Short answer, yes. But should I only pray that God heals my anxiety and not do anything else? Definitely not...Read More Below

You know that mental health is often treated in our society totally different from physical health. Which is honestly totally weird because our brains are in our bodies! So why in heck do we go to the doctor when we are having physical health symptoms but we don’t always see someone when we’re having mental health symptoms? Why does much of society still act like its some personal deficit of a person if they are struggling with an issue like anxiety? And this still happens, where people say you need to have more faith! Come on, there are too many reasons why someone may be experiencing anxiety, ranging from trauma to genetics and more.

So, just as we might go to the doctor for a physical health issue and receive treatment–exercises, medication, lifestyle change, or more, we should also pursue treatments if we are having a mental health issue like anxiety. Just like we wouldn’t typically solely pray for God to heal us, but take action toward good health, we also pray that God heals our mental health and pursue actions that have been proven helpful toward great mental health.

The actions you can take toward positive health are MANY. You can read books written by experts, you can see a counselor, you can take medication, you can take supplements, you can exercise, you can eat a healthy (low-sugar) diet, you can use an abundance of tools that have been proven effective for mental health like deep breathing, CBT exercises, meditation, and the list goes on and on. God has given us so much wisdom. He has given us wisdom for taking care of both our physical and mental health, and we should utilize this wisdom. Just as we should take care of (steward) our physical bodies instead of treating them badly and then praying that God would heal us, we should also take care of our mental health.
